26th July 2014 – Bobtown Beer Bash

The sun shone for us in 2014 and we introduced some changes to the layout of the event to utilise the space available to us at the Community Centre. We had designated entry and exit points, and added an ‘airport-style’ barrier system in the main hall to help with the queue for the real ale bar. We also built the bar further forward, which gave us more room behind, meaning that we could serve everyone as quickly as possible.

Roberttown Church kindly allowed us to use their footpath to gently guide the queue towards the entry desk, which was at the small side entrance from the churchyard into the Community Centre. The main gates at the front of the premises became the exit point, so we avoided the usual congestion in that area, and had much more room for outdoor seating.

The tables were removed from the main hall, and the lounge was designated as the ‘seating area’ for those wanting to sit and study the beer list. This gave us more room to manage the queue for the Real Ale bar, and the airport-style ‘ribbon’ system kept most of it out of the car park! This also helped with the one-way system through the building which again led to less congestion generally.

The cider bar was positioned outside, in the back corner, giving more room for people to queue, and for the first time in our history we had cider available for most of the day!

Dolly the Vintage Caravan was parked in the Churchyard serving Ice Cream, Tea, Coffee, Cakes and a variety of Sweets.
